Thesis Proposal, Thesis Defense and Dissertation Proposal Announcement Policy
In order to provide adequate time for faculty members and students to plan to attend these important presentations, the College of Engineering is instituting a requirement that 7 days’ notice must be provided for thesis proposal, thesis defense, and dissertation proposal presentations. Please note that the Graduate School requires a 10 day notice for dissertation defenses (policy 02.28.16).
The presenting student and faculty advisor are to prepare an announcement (flyer) of the presentation, listing the student, title, abstract, and purpose of the presentation. This announcement is to be given to the departmental graduate coordinator (or in his absence to the department chair) for a dated signature. The student and the department will then publicize the presentation by posting copies of the announcement on appropriate bulletin boards, and by posting to the departmental and college listserv. The signed copy is to be given to Mojan Arshad at least 7 days prior to the presentation. Unless the signed announcement copy is received by Mojan 7 days prior to the presentation, the student will be required to repeat.
