Chair Search: Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering
The College of Engineering, Temple University invites applications for the position of Chairperson of the Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) Department. The College is rapidly expanding its doctoral, master’s, and ABET accredited undergraduate degree programs, and the Chairperson will provide leadership in academic matters, chart the future growth of the department, promote externally funded research, and value teaching excellence. The CEE Department is one of the fastest growing departments in the college with vibrant and successful undergraduate, graduate and research programs.
Applicants must have a doctorate in Civil/Environmental Engineering; excellent teaching experience and scholarly accomplishments, and sustained externally funded research activities and experience as a Principal Investigator on grants and contracts to qualify currently for an appointment at the rank of tenured full professor in Civil/Environmental Engineering at Temple University; outstanding interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to communicate and interact effectively with students, colleagues, staff, advisory board and other on-and-off-campus individuals and groups; demonstrated good character, professional ethics and maturity of attitude; demonstrated teamwork characteristics and strong familiarity with relevant aspects of a CEE Department.
Special consideration will be given to candidates with a background/vision that matches Temple University’s established areas of research focus including but not limited to Water, Environment, Infrastructure, Transportation and Energy.
