SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) is and international organization that is dedicated to advancing mobility technology. This organization consists of over 90,000 engineers, scientists, and practitioners devoted to refining and improving self-propelled vehicles from automobiles and aerospace vehicles to marine and transit systems.
Temple SAE (a smaller chapter of SAE International) is a group of students that designs and builds a small Formula-style race car to take to a competition (called FSAE) to compete against other universities. The competition is based upon a fictional manufacturing company that has contracted a design team to develop a prototype race car that will be evaluated for its potential as a production item. Based upon a set of codes defined by FSAE, the team designs, builds, and tests the prototype car.
